On Monday, November 6, 2017, Slidell Lodge #311 held their Past Master’s Night, an annual meeting recognized by many Blue Lodges. This event honors and celebrates those Brethren which were Masters who’ve helped mold the Lodge into what it is today.

Most Worshipful Guy Jenkins, The Grand Master of Masons in the State of Louisiana, was in attendance and gave a wonderful speech about how there are many kinds of Past Masters. He went on to explain that each Master worked in their own way and had a special purpose. The Widows Sons Louisiana have long wished to present a charitable donation to the Grand Lodge of Louisiana and were honored to finally be able to. Widows Sons Louisiana presented Most Worshipful Guy Jenkins with $500 to be donated to the charity of his choice. MW Jenkins chose the Masonic Learning Center of Louisiana.

The Masonic Learning Center of Louisiana offers a training program for children affected by Dyslexia. The Grand Lodge of Louisiana began this program in 1998 and has had great success. This program is completely free to the students and families, however donations are always welcome.

For more information on the program, visit Grand Lodge of Louisiana Dyslexia Training Program.
